Below is an evolving list of my hardware, it’s problems with various releases of Fedora, and my attempts to fix and/or workaround.

Current Hardware

  • Lenovo P1 Gen 3
  • Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th gen
  • Lenovo Thinkpad T470s

I swap laptops through a Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Dock (model no DBB9003L1) where I run my main monitor, keyboard, and speakers through (via aux). Goal is to be able to switch between work/personal laptops with my same monitor keyboard mouse and speaker setup.

Fedora 35 Issues

On-going

Static Audio Through Dock After Suspend/Resume

Immediately on upgrading to Fedora 35, audio would be fine through my dock -> aux -> speakers, until I resumed the first time. After that the audio would often get extremely staticy to the point you couldn’t listen to it. Laptop had to be rebooted to get past it. Workaround was to use the headphones jack directly with aux cable. Affected all of my laptops through the dock.

Resolved

Blank Displays After Suspend/Resume

This is primarily affecting my P1 right now, but after I resume the laptop twicewhile docked, my displays won’t come back on. I believe I’ve traced this down to something introduced with kernel 5.15.17.

Bug never got attention but seems to be resolved when I eventually tried kernel 5.16.12-200.fc35.x86_6.
